Any insight on boat brands?
Question by CJ: Any insight on boat brands?
Just moved up to MN and bought a house on lake minnetonka. My son is 20, daughter is 22, and another daughter who is 12 and they are pushing me to buy a boat and soon. I am looking at various used models of Mastercraft (mainly the 2003 x-star and these seem to be very nice when i rode on one), as well as various Baja models (all i know about them is that they are very fast). I have done a fair amount of research and feel i wouldnt go wrong with either brand but any insight would be appreciated.

a quality hull is thick, I know baja hulls are pretty thin… parker made some heavy hulls… a older boat from the 70′s will be very strong if its made of fiberglass they put fiberglass down thick then…
its a trade of fuel efficiency and speed verse a durable hull that can take a beating

wakeboard boats?
Question by ussoldier292: wakeboard boats?
what do you think? people who have wakeboarded behind these plz answer
correct craft super air or air nautiques or mastercraft?
whichever one you choose plz tell me ur prefered model and why.
Best answer:
Answer by Zach
Mastercrafts have PERFECT wakes… it is pretty much the wakeboarders dream boat… but then again… all you have to do is add a bunch of ballast to anyother wakeboarding boat and it is just as good. What i have learned is that all tournament boats (Wakeboarding Boats) are about the same… you just have to find what fits you…. if you like the looks of a natique that is a good enough reason to buy one…. with master craft you are paying a lot for the name… Tige’s are pretty nice too i would look into those… but my favorite interior of wakeboarding boats… would have to be the Supra… The Launch 24 SSV has great wakes and the best interior by far…
I would consider / recommend looking at all of theese
1. Mastercraft X-Star
2.Calabria Pro V II
3. Tige 24 VE
4. Supra Launch 24 SSV
5. Centruion Enzo SV 230
6. Epic Wakeboats (If you can get passed the outward apperiance of the boat, if you look passed that, it is a GREAT boat… AMAZING ride and sound system… built in speakers in the transom, so cool)
7. Malibu Wakesetter 247 LSV (Great Boat)
All great Boats
hope this helped

1. What would you say is a must “how-to seminar” to take in during this year’s boat show?
We revamped our Angler’s Alley speaker lineup last year to include the most top pros, tournament winners, and experts that were available and visitors responded so well that we had to add extra rows of chairs after the first day.
At the 2011 show, we are going to hold four Angler’s Alley “colleges” on the four weekend days; one each covering walleye, bass, fishing electronics, and steelhead. Mike Knippenberg and Ryan Buddie, this year’s Masters Walleye Circuit team of the year, will speak at the show on Jan. 15 and 19 and 2010 MWC World Walleye Champion Jonnie Candle will be there on Jan. 21, 22, and 23. All-in-all, there will be multiple speakers each day at the show.
2. What has always been or will be the “most popular exhibit”?
People have always come and will always come for the great selection of boats; they are truly the stars of the show.
The diversity of watercraft at our show cannot be matched and I think visitors really benefit from having a one-stop shop for everything from large cruisers and fishing boats to sport boats, sailboats, pontoons, and personal watercraft.
3. In your opinion what’s the “number 1 attraction” of this year’s show”?
We were fortunate to snag the offshore race boat – Time Bandit Super V Lite boat for the second half of the show, Jan. 20-23. Visitors will be able to see the 90-mph craft up close and meet owner/driver Bob Mazikowski. Bob is no stranger to boat racing winning championships at National and World competitions in his 11 year career. Also be sure to see Travis Lofland who competes as a throttleman on the Wizard fishing boat.
People coming in the days prior to its arrival – you will want to check out the timeless wood boats that will be displayed by the North Coast Antique Boat Society, Lyman Boat Owners Association, and Cleveland Amateur Boatbuilding and Boating Society.
4. What would be your most “frequently asked questions” about this year’s show?
People always ask about discount tickets and we will be offering plenty this year. -off tickets are on sale at all Cleveland-area Marc’s stores right now and Tuesday, Jan. 18 we will hold a canned food drive. A visitor to the show who brings 4 canned foods to help fill a small boat will be rewarded with free admission to the show.
Put-in-Bay Days on Wednesday, Jan. 19, and Thursday, Jan. 20, will be celebrated with after 5 promotions.
At 5 p.m. each night, the show’s admission price will be reduced to . Thursday night’s entertainment will be provided by South Bass Island Regulars.
5. What is “new” at this year’s show?
A new “Cruising Lifestyle Stage” will be set up to host demonstrations on diesel mechanics, sail boat rigging, how to cook using a small galley, along with a display on regional destinations.
The popular Pre-owned Pavilion, which debuted at the 2010 show with quality used boats from multiple exhibitors, will be back, along with the regionally-themed Put-in-Bay Pavilion, Destination Vermilion, and Destination Sandusky displays.
Sounds like another great show this year Mike, thanks for sharing some time with us.

If you supply the hull number to Mastercraft they will be able to tell you what engine came with the boat. The hull number is located on the stern, usually on the starboard side just below the rub rail. If for any reason they can’t help you just google the boat and the hull number.
